Fix Sound Driver Issues:

Sound drivers are important for the proper releasing of sound. The audio malfunctions usually occur due to the incompatible, outdated or corrupt drivers. So, the primary troubleshooting is; fixing the driver-related problems using the methods given below:

Solution 1- Download latest HP audio drivers:

The official website of HP is the best place to find authentic and latest drivers for your device. To get the right set of drivers, follow the steps:

  1. Go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
  2. Choose a laptop or desktop (depending upon your device)
  3. Select the operating system matching your computing device. Click on Change and enter the OS of your choice
  4. Click on “download” to get the working set of HP drivers.
  5. Select “Use HP Download and Install assistant” to install HP sound card driver
  6. Click on “save file” and then click to complete the installation
  7. Reboot your device to apply the changes.

Important Note: To re-install the drivers, make sure you first delete the previously installed drivers by accessing the Device Manager of your system.

Solution 2: Restart your computer/laptop:

If the sound stops coming from both speakers and headphones, there are chances that third-party application is disturbing the sound patterns. So, restart your system to stop the background applications.

Solution 3: Run HP support assistant:

  1. Go to https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html and click Download HP support assistant.
  2. Download and Install the software using the on-screen instructions
  3. Using the Windows search bar, look for the HP Support Assistant.
  4. Click “My devices”, from the “Computer” option.
  5. Tap on Troubleshooting and Fixes tab and click Audio check from the “One-click Fixes” option.
  6. Click Next and then let the audio test complete.
  7. Now review the options you get from audio and microphone diagnostic results and then tap on Test audio.
  8. Choose Unable to hear audio, if you are unable to hear the audio.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Solution 4: Use the Windows Troubleshooter:

Windows include an audio troubleshooter tool that is used to fix the common issues with audio playback issues. Here are the steps to use it:

  1. From Windows search bar, type “find and fix audio into Search”.
  2. Alternatively, click right on the speaker icon using the taskbar. Click Troubleshoot sound issues.
  3. Choose Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems.
  4. Click Next
  5. Choose the device you want to fix and click Next
  6. After the troubleshooter detects the issue, make the required changes or Windows do it automatically
  7. Once the troubleshooting process is completed, you will see the page Troubleshooting has completed 
  8. Tap “Close
  9. If you see a recommended action, click on Apply this Fix and then skip this step to fix other issues.

Solution 5- Fix the hardware issues:

If the hardware is not functioning properly, sound issues are more expected to happen. So make you check the hardware well before performing the advanced troubleshooting. So, let’s roll what you need to check with the hardware of your computing device:

Check the speaker:

If the speaker is of your device has some sort of issue, the sound won’t come out and thus creating audio issues with your device. So, properly check the speaker of your laptop and fix any respective error for proper sound emission.

Check the headphone jack or headphone:

If you can’t hear anything with the headphone, the headphone jack or headphone can be the issue. So, disconnect the headphone and then check if the sound is working. Now, use the same headphone on any other device to check its proper functioning. If the headphone is fine, the “headphone jack” can be the culprit.

So, to fix the jack, use the cotton bud or soft brush to clean the jacks. If the headphone is not working, replace its cord or change the headphone altogether.
